As with many stores in the Waterstones estate we have a strong market for 11 plus titles. The ‘Back to School’ season is fast approaching and it is fantastic that we are able to offer these titles alongside the more traditional format revision guides.

Parents are always looking for new ways to engage their children in education and these titles are perfect as they encourage more involvement in the learning process in a way that is completely unique to this market. As far as I know there are no other products like this in the book trade at the present time.

As an example, I was speaking to a customer recently who was saying how difficult she found it to get her son to sit down and practice for his 11 plus exams. She said that all the revision guides she had bought thus far had failed to spark any interest and that her son had lost all enthusiasm. I recommended both of Mr Sharma’s English and Maths Crossword Puzzle books as I believe that the format of these books makes learning less of a chore, and more fun – I would certainly have loved them when I was younger! Needless to say, she bought both titles and was very impressed with them. This is a common occurrence with parents, and it is great that we now have a product that we can honestly say is a new and unique way of learning that works!

I would strongly recommend these titles as a fun way to enhance children’s learning at the 11 plus stage and the feedback we have received from parents (and their children) has been very encouraging.
